Perhaps there is a problem with your RF tuning that is making the radio receive image frequencies rather than the broadcast band. If I remember the schematic correctly, the RF amp is connected to the oscillator/mixer tube without turning. ![]() This seems to be close to what you are getting on your radio. In a typical radio like yours, the oscillator, in order to produce 455 kHz from 550 to 1600, the broadcast band, runs from 1005 to 2055 kHz, and the image frequencies would be from 1460 to 2055 kHz. The RF stages in the radio are tuned to the desired frequency in order to reject this image frequency. It can also beat with a frequency 455 kHz ABOVE the desired frequency to produce an image. :All ideas of where to look for this problem of not receiving local AM stations would be appreciated.Īs you probably know, the local oscillator runs at a frequency 455 kHz (in the case of a 455 khz IF) above the desired frequency. :With my scope connected to the grid of the 12SA7 tube the oscillator signal across the tuning band is between 1.8 MHz and 2.4 MHz, this seems to be that i am only receiving the SW stations on a BC radio. From the low band width to the high end i receive Japan, China, Mexico, The World Christain Broadcast, Fox world sports.
